INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE
An information architecture is a design specification that indicates how information flows across an application, as well as how it's organized and presented visually. We map out this information architecture with wireframe diagrams which indicate the placement and position of elements on every page.
Wireframing The Information Architecture
Our design process begins with wireframes - undecorated, black and white blueprints of each page. We begin with only wireframe diagrams rather than a full-blown creative effort because it allows for an intense and undivided focus on usability issues, and prevents them from being conflated with aesthetic preferences.
Collaborative Planning
Our business-trained information architects work collaboratively with our clients to ensure that the system is structured efficiently and consistently with their expectations. Wireframes typically go through several revisions before they are finalized and used as guides in designing the final, full-color mock-ups.
Moving From Wireframes To Mockups
Working within the design parameters established in the wireframes, we begin creative design. This is cost-efficient, because it prevents the unnecessary expense of designing a system that is subject to change.
